Oso Frontino

El oso frontino, llamado también de espejuelos o de anteojos,  y su tamaño, en comparación con los osos de otras latitudes, es relativamente pequeño. No obstante, conviene tener muy en cuenta que hemos dicho relativamente pequeño: mide entre 1,50 y 1,80m y pesa alrededor de los 140 kg.

Es el único oso de Suramérica, su hábitat son los Bosques altos de los Andes de Táchira, Mérida y Trujillo, parte meridional de Lara y norte de Portuguesa. Este oso es un mamífero que no ataca, sólo lo hace cuando se siente en peligro él o sus crías.

Amenazas: Se estima que Los osos Frontinos se han hecho bastante escasos y habitan en parajes que no suelen ser visitados por los humanos, por lo que observados en libertad es problemático. De ahí que sus costumbres sean poco conocidas. Se asegura que, al menos en estado salvaje, siguen una dieta muy regular, compuesta de hierbas, frutos y raíces nutritivas, y que, cuando salen en busca de alimentos, trepan a los árboles para tomar frutos o para rasgar con sus garras las cortezas tiernas.

 Está en nosotros colaborar para impedir que estos animales estén condenados a la extinción. Todos podemos aportar nuestro granito de arena siguiendo estas sencillas recomendaciones:

- No consumas carne de fauna silvestre.

- No compres animales silvestres.

- Denuncia ante la Guardia Nacional aquellos que comercialicen con especies en extinción.

Spectacled Bear

Spectacled Bear, also called eyeglasses or spectacles, and its size, compared with bears from other regions, is relatively small. However, it should bear in mind that we have such a relatively small, measuring between 1.50 and 1.80 m and weighs around 140 kg.
It is the only bear in South America, their habitat are the high Andes Forests of Tachira, Merida and Trujillo, Lara southern and northern Portugal. This bear is a mammal that does not attack, it just does not feel at risk when they or their offspring.

 

Threats: It is estimated that spectacled bears have become quite scarce and living in places not usually visited by humans, as observed in the wild is problematic. Hence, their habits are little known. Ensures that, at least in the wild, are very regular diet composed of herbs, fruits and nutritious roots, and, when they go in search of food, climb trees to take off or tear the bark with their claws tender.

Is up to us to work together to prevent these animals are doomed to extinction. We can all contribute our bit by following these simple recommendations:

- Do not eat meat from wildlife.
- Do not buy wild animals.

- Report to the National Guard who market to endangered species.
